The Third Generation Swift has undergone a complete makeover, from a complete redesign to new powerful engines, it’ll bring excitement for all the performance seeking drivers across the world. If reports are to be believed, Suzuki will ditch the older 1.6 Liter naturally aspirated engine for a new 1.4 Liter Turbocharged Petrol Boosterjet engine in their performance version known as the “Swift Sport”. This new 1.4 Liter is likely to produce 140 Bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque.
Suzuki came out with more images and a teaser video of the new generation Swift Sport ahead of the official showcasing of the vehicle. The car is likely to be released at the 67th Frankfurt Motor Show to be held this fall. Here is the Video that features the new Swift Sport –
Coming to the updates, the Front bumper is redesigned to appear more aggressive to match the vehicle’s performance numbers. The new front bumper features an aggressive front with more sharper air-dams.
The Rear bumper witnessed some changes too with the presence of dual-chrome exhaust tips and the diffuser is blacked-out too.
Interiors are widely kept black with red contrast linings across the vehicle to provide a more sporty feel. The touchscreen MMI system is improved and appears bigger along with the multi function steering and red contrast dial for the tacho-meter.
The last Sport version of the Swift was showcased at the 2014 Auto-Expo held in India. However, that variant never made it to Sale in the Indian market. Moreover, with the Volkswagen Polo GT and GTI along with Fiat Punto Abarth already dominating the performance market, Suzuki came out with the performance version of their Baleno termed as the “Baleno RS”. With the Swift Sport, Suzuki will dig much deeper in the performance hatchback segment.
Other details of the Swift Sport may be released in an upcoming Suzuki’s press conference near September.
